ALSF shares the vision of founder and creator Alexandra "Alex" Scott in "fighting childhood cancer, one cup at a time."

Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer, days before her first birthday. With an uncertain prognosis, she battled with great determination and confidence. After her fourth birthday, she shared with her parents the idea of setting up a lemonade stand in order to give money to doctors to "help other kids, like they helped me." The first stand raised an amazing $2000, and the family continued to hold yearly stands. As word of the lemonade stands spread, people from all over the world joined Alex and her family in donating the proceeds of their own stands to fight childhood cancer.

In 2004, Alex passed away at the age of 8 after raising over $1 million to fight childhood cancer. Her legacy continues through ALSF which has raised over $250 million and counting through stands, events, clubs, and more. With 1000 medical research grants at nearly 150 institutions, Alex and her foundation are contributing and striving to make the cure to childhood cancer a reality.
